In this section we aim to show how we enabled our
Business procurement to directly benefit our past, present and future
clients. In this case study we look at how the present suppliers
were selected.
The company were looking for a new supplier
that had a confirmed history in the industry offering a high level
of co-operation with the guarantee of the best quality products.
The initial contact with the new supplier came via
a recommendation from an existing subcontractor. The issue of tool
collection from the old supplier was a significant factor in the
choice of new supplier for Item Products, as the awkward and heavy
equipment used in the production process had to be retrieved from
the old supplier across the country. It was imperative for the company
that the new supplier would accompany them to collect the expensive
and essential tools ensuring their safe return. Mr Holt said that
on the day of collection the new supplier acted "above and beyond
the call of duty ensuring the tools were securely loaded and safely
transported to their new site." This first impression was a strong
indication to the company of the positive nature of this new business
relationship.
What immediate benefit did this bring to Item?
The superbly handled tool collection issue was obviously
of immediate benefit to Item as the production process is impossible
without this essential equipment. However, Mr Holt also emphasised
the immediate benefit that the stabilisation of prices offered by
the new supplier had on the company in and industry that takes for
granted the fluctuation of prices linked to the oil market. The
new supplier instantly provided Item Products less monthly variation,
which has been reflected in the costs to Item Products' customers.
From the start of the new contract stock immediately became easily
managed and well controlled, as the new supplier is able to provide
reliable deliveries, on time. Information from the new supplier
up to date and honest with realistic adjustments and full notification
of any unavoidable changes where necessary. Item Products have also
found this new relationship has enhanced their capacity for innovative
design when solving the individual problems faced by their customers.
The company is proud of the dynamic solutions it is able to offer
it's customers, in close partnership with the new supplier. The
quality of the products from the new supplier is of a far superior
quality to previous examples of work from other plastic moulding
companies. The tools and moulds that were collected with such diligence
and care on that first day are maintained to an extremely high standard
continuing to produce a first class end product.
What longer term benefit did this bring to
Item?
Based on the success of the relationship with the
new supplier the company has renewed confidence in business projections
for both the long and short term. Facilitated by a reliable and
high quality plastic moulding supplier Item Products is now able
to guarantee it's customers the best possible service. Mr Holt highlighted
the fact that this can only build business and strengthen the companies
reputation within the industry.
What overall benefit did this bring to Item's
customers?
The close and successful relationship offered by
the new suppliers has enhanced the innovation of the design of new
components required by Item Products' customers. The relationship
allows for a comprehensive investigation of the production possibilities
available, as the advice and experience offered by the new supplier
is always honest and very reliable. |
