Trundler Foot

"Trundler" is a system of wheels to ease movement of heavy and awkward packs and containers around a shop, store, warehouse, or in transit. Trundler can be used with Transit or Tertiary packaging and, as we are seeing far more frequently, direct-to-store or “floor-ready” style POS packaging.

The wheel concept is a three-piece injection moulded construction built around our Interlock 5, which clips the wheel chassis to the board without the need for tools or fixings. The wheel then neatly snaps into the chassis. The unit is quick to assemble from the outside of the box or display unit and is easy to remove for reuse or recycling once the packaging has done the job.

We have three variants of Interlock 5 available to accommodate board grade combinations of 13mm, 21mm and 25mm however where it is not possible to die cut a locator hole for the clip, the chassis has been designed to work with adhesives, screws, or rivets.

To enhance Trundler's environmental credibility the components contain recycled polymer, can be reused many times over, and when they reach the end of a useful life can be dispensed through domestic recycling streams.

Users have the option of die cutting a section into the bottom of the carton that recesses the wheel and allows the carton to stand on its own base when static (see Silentnight system) or to use Trundler Foot in conjunction with the wheel to provide a level platform. Trundler Foot offers extra stability and a natural braking system to the wheel and elevates the carton and product off the floor in a damp or wet environment or to accommodate fork lift truck tines.

Combining the two components that make up the new Trundler system has opened huge opportunities for innovation in design and use of corrugated boards. Trundler has been a huge success and the introduction of the Trundler Foot will take the product further forward still.
